Douglas Viehland, CAE, Executive Director of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs – ACBSP, member institution of CLADEA, joined a panel of representatives from many of the world’s leading accrediting bodies for the opening session of the 5th International Accreditation Conference 2012 organized by the SEAA Trust (Standards For Educational Advancement & Accreditation Trust). “Cutting Edge Benchmarks for Global Quality in Business Education” was the theme for the event, which took place November 5-6 in New Delhi, India.

Viehland also presented a session on the value of ACBSP accreditation titled, “ACBSP Process Presentation and Experience Sharing.” He was joined by two ACBSP members whose institutions were among the first to achieve ACBSP accreditation in India: Dr. R. Nandagopal, Director of PSG Institute of Management (Coimbatore), and Dr. Kavita, ICBM School of Business Excellence (Hyderabad).

While in India, Viehland presented a Certificate of Candidacy for ACBSP Accreditation to Dr. Rajesh Khajuria, Director of C. K. Shah Vijapurwala Institute of Management (CKSVIM). The Institute became a candidate for accreditation in October and is currently documenting and improving their practices in delivery of management education as part of the accreditation process. “ACBSP is the second largest accrediting body in the world and the largest global accrediting body in India,” said Viehland. “We currently have 17 Indian universities in membership -- seven are accredited, and five more are candidates for accreditation and moving through the process currently,” he said.
